Indonesia – Bali

The place for everyone

baliI’ve been always sceptic about Bali, thought was the perfect destination for surfers and western tourists proudly primped with Bintang tank top. I’m happy to say that I was completely wrong. It takes me one year to figure it out but now I’ve been also affected by the so-called Bali syndrome.

Bali is such a big island that has enough space for everyone: whether you are seeking exotic landscape, beach parties and souvenirs shops; whether you are a pro surfer or you simply want to take a long board by the arm while walking on the seashore. However Bali offers thousand of alternatives to those who are looking for meditation and yoga retreats or want to delve into Balinese culture.

SUGGESTED # OF DAYS TO STAY: a weekend, 3 days, the rest of your life

bali driversHOW TO GET THERE: flight to Denpasar, the international airport of Bali located in the southern part of the island. Flights’ prices may change from period to period, during peaks I would suggest to check out flights operated by Qatar airlines which offers fixed fares all year-long. The best way to move around the island is by motorbike; if you are moving by car expect crazy traffic jam, a distance that normally takes 20 mins by motorbike, by car requires the double. Overall crossing the island from south to north or vice versa takes almost 6 hrs. Taxi drivers in Bali have no clue where to go, they get lost easily; private drivers are 10 times better, in our case I let Ngurah Putu (+62 087 863 278 950), a 23 yrs old guy that knows Bali better than anyone, to take care of us.

SUGGESTED PLACE TO STAY: Seminyak area is offering a wide range of accommodations. If you are travelling with a group of friends I will definitely suggest to rent out villas in Seminyak/Canggu area. Normally a private villa can accommodate from 5 to 10 people for reasonable prices, considering services and facilities included by default (pool, private driver, cook, 24h security services and daily cleaning). Here’s an example: Villa Kintamani avg.price per night is 700,00 IDR (address: Jl. Raya Semat GG. Giri Sunia No. 1. Br. Pelambingan Ds. Tibubeneng Canggu Kuta)
